Tour Date D minus 10

Played a gig at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Friday night with Scott Morgan's Powertrane. This was a good opportunity to visit familiy and friends in my home town as well as begin to get fingers in shape for the RB tour coming up. The show went extremely well although attendances were marginal. Scott and I split the set up on singing. Some features were: the Sonics Rendezvous song Earthy, Hijackin'Love, Respect. I sang Shellback, Outside, Hangin On. Hiawatha Bailey came on for the encore ( it was his birthday, and some of his large family showed up ) and we did the Stooge classics Down On The Street and Dog. Heres' a pic of me and Scott Morgan after the show. Now, heading to Hawaii's big island for a couple of days off, then will be in Sydney by the weekend for rehearsals etc.

Tour date : D minus 28

Hey,

I'm doing a lot of press these days. Sometimes it works and sometimes doesn't.

This interview came out well... check it out :

Tonight doing a night shift in the ER. Tomorrow going down to Denver to see a man about a dog. When I get back, I will start practising in earnest.

I'll be happier when this tour starts.

Tour Date : D minus 30

We just got the bad news that our front of house sound man of the last few years, Greg Clarke, will not be able to make the overseas legs of the tour. This is a real problem as it is essential to have someone who is not only a great engineer but also knows the material. We won't be able to replace Greg at this point with anyone who knows the songs. The best we can do is hire someone who knows the rooms we'll be playing, at least. We are soliciting recommendations from the DKT-MC5 and others in the USA.

Otherwise preparations are moving right along. I was really happy to see Auckland added to the schedule, since I had a great time playing there with MC5 in '04.

Tour Date D-36

To clear up some apparent confusion, the CD's I referred to in the last post were PROMO copies that go to promoters and media only ... not for sale. The official release date for the album in America and Europe is in August. Copies can also be bought now mail order from Citadel:

info@citadelmailorder.com.

This week has been taken up mostly by interviews and press. Rob and Jim arrived back from the New Christs tour of Europe this week, and hopefully will begin to carry some of the media burden. I've finished my part of the work on Roy Loney's new album, and The Last Of The Bad Men, the new band featuring Art and Steve Godoy. Will now start thinking about set lists for the Radio Birdman tour.

Be sure to keep an eye on the official website for tour dates, these tend to change as we get closer. www.radio-birdman.com.

Tour Date: D minus 43

John Needham just sent off 80 CDs to Europe today and is packing up another 150. Everything is on track and starting to heat up. John started working on getting shows lined up 6 months ago, while we were still in the throes of recording. Now, all the dates are booked except for a few. I've asked John to get my Marshalls serviced, these will go to Dave Peach. I'd like to set up with two of them, and only kick the second one on for solos, thus avoiding having to use a tone-sucking signal boost pedal. Well have to try it out in rehearsals... In other developments, Scott Morgan has asked me to do a couple of gigs with Powertrane, in Ann Arbor and Cleveland, in early July. This will be excellent. Besides the joy and sheer excitement of playing with those guys ... maybe the most powerful band in show business ... it will get me into practising early and by the time I get back to Sydney th following week, my hands and chops will already be gig tough.
